The effect of reading literacy to mathematics comprehension of elementary school students in Indonesia and Malaysia

چکیده

This article aims to measure the effects of reading literacy mathematical comprehension fifth grade elementary students both in Indonesia and Malaysia. used quasi-experiment with factorial design. Samples included 398 that consisted 173 216 The data were taken by using three instruments: a test questionnaires. A was assess students’ comprehension. Meanwhile, questionnaires their motivation study mathematics. They have been validated two experts estimated reliability coefficient Cronbach Alpha formula. Experts judged instruments valid based on content validity. all more than 0.5 so they reliable. descriptive statistical analysis describe data, while variant examine different levels result showed there is difference between high level those lower level. Besides that, this also shows distinction which higher mathematics less motivation. concluded an effect toward ability students.
